Abstract
The Use of Digital Technology for the Prevention of Caries in the Interceptive Phase
by Checchi Stefano
The assessment of individual CRA caries risk, as well as the early identification of hard tissue lesions of the tooth, related to carious infection, are essential elements of cariology and fundamental prerequisites for the clinical management of caries pathology in both preventive and therapeutic terms. In this context, new digital technologies such as multifunctional intramural cameras, DIFOTI technology and induced fluorescence technology take on undoubted importance to support and complement the methods of collecting objective information about the state of the mineral tissues of the dental elements. New and more current methods, technologies and digital tools should find routine clinical application in patient classification processes from a cariological point of view, in support and diagnostic enhancement, for monitoring and surveillance of the effectiveness of preventive and therapeutic measures undertaken. , in the short, medium and long term, as well as for the purpose of a more advanced, immediate and effective communication with patients. The report will illustrate the clinical experience regarding the use of methods and tools, including devices based on DIFOTI and induced fluorescence technologies and their rationale for use in the practice of Dental Hygienists and Dentists.
